The following workshop was targeted at key M&E and project implementation employees of federal and state government authorities who benefited from the previous year's workshop. The workshop was one of SDGcaps' capacity-building initiatives, and Benadir Innovation supports with its execution.

The SDGCap innovation commenced on August 19th and concluded on October 2nd. A duration of precisely 6 weeks with a total of 15 participants actively engaged in the program. Among them was Abdirisak Mohamed Hassan who said:

“The SDGCap Innovation course transformed my problem-solving approach, teaching me to find opportunities within challenges.

The primary purpose of the event was to commemorate the inauguration of the BU Innovation Hub and to celebrate this momentous occasion. Distinguished guests were in attendance, hailing from diverse sectors such as the academic community, government officials, civic society, and young individuals.

As part of the capacity-building efforts to strengthen and facilitate visualization and communication of data, a one-day training workshop has been organized in Uganda. The aim of the workshop was to improve the ability of researchers, academics, and communication specialists to visualize and communicate/present data using publicly available tools.

The EU is in the process of setting out its position on the newly launched Global Health Strategy intending to improve global health security and deliver better health for all in a changing world.

The first national forum for the Sustainable Development Goals, FNODD (Forum National sur les Objectifs de Développement Durable) has been launched through a two-day conference in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

On December 6, a one day sensitization meeting was held regarding the role of the university in the implementation of the SDGs in DRC. The Rector of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) called on a conference with all the UNIKIN Communities (Professors, scientifics, administratives and students) to discuss.

The Somalia team for the project Building capacity for sustainable development in fragile states (SDGCap) has launched a multisectoral platform for sustainable development.

Reference group of CESH provides valuable feedback on the Centre’s tool kits for sustainable health.

On the 14th of December 2022 the working group members of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Health (CESH) were joined by the Centre’s reference group for a 90-minute Zoom session.

Training programme on sustainable health presented at major public health conference

Meet Dr. Freddy Bangelesa who is a research scientist and senior lecturer at Kinshasa School of Public Health in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is also a coordinator for the training programme Managing Innovation for Sustainable Health.

A series of multisectoral workshops on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) have been held in Uganda in two local government districts in Uganda: Mayuge and Mukono. The aim of the workshops was to increase the knowledge on the SDGs and enhancing their localization within the district while working across sectors.

The Somali team in SDGCap has conducted a four-day workshop: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) for the Public Sector to enhance Accountability and Transparency. The training workshop targeted key monitoring and evaluation project implementation staff of government officials at federal and state level.

A workshop on how vulnerable populations can be included in the strategy to achieve Universal Health Care (UHC), was organised in Kinshasa 25–26 November.

A workshop to generate new knowledge and innovative solutions and to communicate it to relevant actors, for evidence-based action and policymaking, to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG:s), was organised by the DRC team with the students coordination team of University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN).

One of the key activities of the SDGCap project in Somalia has been a workshop to explore the role of civil society women associations for the attainment of Agenda 2030 in Somalia, with particular emphasis on SDG 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls).

Under the SDGCap Project, the Kinshasa School of Public health (KSPH), together with the Ministry of Planning (through the Congolese Observatory for Sustainable Development – OCDD), and with the support of the UNDP, organized an awareness workshop and training of 65 civil administrators from the 13 Ministries on SDG implementation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Benadir University hosted a workshop with stakeholder discussions on how Benadir university and other key stakeholders can address the challenge of youth unemployment in Somalia through enabling innovation and entrepreneurship.

On the 6th of August 2022, the Building Capacity for Sustainable Health in Fragile States project (SDGCap) study team held an multidisciplinary engagement workshop with 19 student leaders from different colleges at Makerere Univ
