Webinar about Heat Waves and Mortality in Africa: In-depth Overview and Quantification
Join the conversation on one of Africa’s pressing climate and health challenges. The increasing frequency, intensity, and duration of heat waves, driven by climate change, pose a growing public health threat worldwide. Africa is disproportionately vulnerable to these risks due to geographical, socio-economic, infrastructural, and health system factors. Despite this vulnerability, research and surveillance on heat wave-associated mortality in Africa remain limited.
This webinar will examine the evidence and approaches for quantifying mortality from heat waves, drawing on experiences from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, and South Africa.
